This is our DVD review for WWE Survivor Series 2020, which is all about two core elements. I’ll come to the second shortly, as it’s unquestionably the biggest. But the majority of the show continued the annual clashes between Raw and SmackDown. Rewatching the show on DVD allows one to see how, even without an audience, some matches clearly stand out more than others. This is the latest DVD review for our site. So, let’s see what we think of Survivor Series 2020!

WWE Survivor Series 2020

Survivor Series 2020 Under Card

The opening men’s Survivor Series elimination clash is fine though unmemorable, with Seth Rollins’ quick exit and Raw achieving a clean sweep being the main talking points. Meanwhile, The New Day vs. The Street Profits is awesome, and one of the undercard gems for WWE on PPV in 2020.

Bobby Lashley vs. Sami Zayn serves a purpose of having the United States and Intercontinental Champions collide, but it achieves little else. Okay, so it gives Lashley another dominant victory, which helps as WWE rehabilitates his powerhouse persona. But this is a bout which you would expect on Raw or SmackDown rather than a Big Four PPV. Oh well.

Survivor Series 2020 Main Events

Conversely, Asuka vs. Sasha Banks is a tremendous clash of the Women’s Champions. This is so competitive and at times innovative, and it’s a true highlight of the show. The women’s Survivors match is rather good, though Lana winning via a fluke reduces its significance (sorry, Lana). Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns then tear it up in an excellent battle, one which may lead to a larger feud in 2021.

Then, we come to the true main event of sorts, The Undertaker’s Final Farewell. And, well, hmm. The ceremony itself is acceptable and at times touching. It’s also emotional when we see Taker with a Paul Bearer hologram. But for this to happen in front of no physical fans is still frustrating to me. I truly believe Undertaker wrestles one more match once fans return proper to arenas, even if it’s in 2022 or 2023. For this to be the end of the line without any spectators there feels underwhelming to me.

Survivor Series 2020 Analysis

Putting aside the aspect of Undertaker’s retirement, though, this has a lot to offer. New Day vs. Street Profits is must-see. Asuka vs. Sasha sees the two Women’s Champions have their best bout yet. And Roman vs. McIntyre is an awesome big-man fight. So much so that there’s a small portion of fans hoping for a repeat in the future. Pretty impressive for a bout which would only become official for this card at six day’s notice.

As for Undertaker’s swansong segment, let’s just see if it sticks. After all, when it comes to The Dead Man, this is somewhat familiar territory. WrestleMania XXX and WrestleMania 33 are two examples of events where fans believed they had seen the last of Taker, only for him to return. So, why believe differently on this occasion? And especially without proper fans to see the ceremony live. I’ll give it until WrestleMania 38 in spring 2022. If he’s not back by then, this probably does mark his final farewell. But I remain skeptical.

Survivor Series 2020 Summary

Nevertheless, if this is truly it for The Undertaker, then it makes WWE Survivor Series 2020 a historic DVD to own. Add to that three really good matches on the show, and you have an acceptable Survivors card overall. It isn’t the best, but until fans are back, that may be an unrealistic expectation. Just know that if you buy this DVD, it’ll be value for money.

Overall Rating: 7/10 – Respectable
