This 25th Anniversary show catapults Riverdance into the 21st century. Not only that, but it completely immerses audiences into the extraordinary and elemental power of music and dance. But why go and see it? Well, 25 years on, new and longtime fans will fall in love with the original and best dance show. It’s a mesmerising reinvention of a longtime favourite, demonstrating the excitement, energy and passion of Irish dance.
The director of this show is John McColgan, with Moya Doherty as producer and Bill Whelan as composer. Furthermore, we have Julian Erskine as senior executive producer, Joan Bergin as costume designer and Michael O’Gorman as sound designer. Better still, the show now has brand new lighting and projection to dazzle audiences as they watch some iconic dancing.
The show has twelve lead dancers. So, these include William Bryant, Maggie Darlington, Amy-Mae Dolan, Anna Mai Fitzpatrick, Kieran Hardiman and Bobby Hodges. Additionally, there’s Meadhbh Kennedy, Patrick O’Mahony, Jason O’Neill, Gianna Petracic, Natasia Petracic and Callum Spencer.
Liverpool’s Empire Theatre is a true mainstay of the city, ever since the venue’s initial opening in 1866. But a demolition of the original Empire would lead to the modern Empire opening in 1924. From there, the Empire would become a focal point for the UK’s top touring theatre shows. Indeed, so many iconic productions regularly come to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre. Furthermore, the list of performers to grace the Empire stage over the years reads like a who’s who. In addition, the Empire’s location is pivotal, with its positioning directly in front of Lime Street Station. The Empire has a total capacity of 2,381, with frequent sell-outs throughout the annual theatre calendar. Simply put, the Empire Theatre is amongst the UK’s top entertainment venues and an ideal backdrop for a classic night of theatre.
The tour begins at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall from August 27-28 2021. Then, it moves onto Birmingham, Cardiff, Milton Keynes, Southampton, Cambridge, Southend, Wimbledon, York, Edinburgh, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Glasgow, Sheffield, Oxford and Stoke-On-Trent. Next, it’s onto Hull, Leicester and Sunderland before coming to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre from November 8-11 2021. After that, the show covers Manchester, Bristol, Portsmouth, Torquay, Plymouth and London. Finally, the tour concludes at Brighton Centre from December 12-14 2021, with 2022 dates and locations awaiting confirmation.
