This is our DVD review for WWE TLC 2019, which is something of a divisive show. Some thought it exceeded the low expectations beforehand, while others felt it matched the secondary feel that the card seemed to have in advanced. Watching it back on DVD, I still sit somewhere in the middle on this debate. This is the latest DVD review for our site. So, let’s see what we think of TLC 2019!

TLC 2019 Under Card
The show opens with a strong Ladder match between The New Day and The Revival for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. This is a really good effort by both teams, though I would put it a shade below similar bouts that we’ve seen in recent times. Aleister Black vs. Buddy Murphy is as hard-hitting and physical as an under-card match gets in WWE, and the two demonstrate that they have fantastic chemistry in this memorable scrap. Conversely, The Viking Riaders vs. The O.C. is pure filler, and acts more as an extended commercial for KFC than a showcase of Raw’s tag team division.
TLC 2019 Main Events
Next, we get a TLC match between Roman Reigns and King Corbin, with pinfalls and submissions to determine the winner. As a brawl, this is watchable enough, but as a TLC match, this can’t hold a candle to previous bouts of this nature, and the finishing sequence, while designed to garner further heel heat for Baron Corbin, falls flat. Bray Wyatt vs. The Miz was stupidly criticised by some as being an awful match because they missed the point: this wasn’t supposed to be a regular bout, but rather a platform for Wyatt (in Firefly Fun House mode, as opposed to donning The Fiend attire) to show just how mad he really is, and it succeeds, because this is compelling as an angle in a way that very few segments are in WWE.
TLC 2019 Analysis
Then we get a Tables match between Rusev and Bobby Lashley. Their love triangle storyline with Lana has proven to be a Marmite of sports entertainment, but even if you loved their shenanigans in interviews and brawls, it’s hard to deny that they don’t match up very well in the ring, as evidenced by this slow and occasionaly sloppy affair (no pun intended).
Finally, we get another TLC match as Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair attempt to take the Women’s Tag Team Titles from The Kabuki Warriors. This is better than Corbin vs. Reigns, but not by much: there are some creative spots, but it feels dragged out, Kairi Sane suffering a concussion causes the structure of the bout to fall apart a bit (which is an unavoidable side effect of real injuries occurring), and fans expecting a feel-good ending were disappointed as The Kabukis retained over The Man and The Queen.
TLC 2019 Summary
Though it has some worthwhile moments, WWE TLC 2019 features too much missable material to receive a full recommendation from us on DVD. If you do check it out, make sure to watch New Day vs. Revival and Black vs. Murphy, and maybe the wild antics of Bray Wyatt as well.
Overall Rating: 6/10 – Reasonable
