Mortal Kombat 1, despite its flaws, is still proofing to be my favourite fighting game of the year. I love the variety of the characters and excited for future DLC. With Kombat Pack 1 slowly releasing let’s speculate what characters we could see come in future Kombat packs. Here are 5 DLC characters we need in Mortal Kombat 1…
5 DLC Characters We NEED in Mortal Kombat 1: Top 5
5 – Motaro

Having already been included in the form of a Kameo character, Motaro has a popular fanbase. With the character not being fully playable in over a decade. His last appearance being in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. Creatively designed as a cyborg like centaur creature with a robot scorpion tail, he grew quite a large fanbase. One that wishes for him to return to his playable glory. His teleport, range attacks, and large build makes him truly unique to play with. Even if he was overpowered in some of his inclusions. I believe NRS can take everything they have learned over the years and make a Motaro that won’t break the game. Motaro was included in my characters to be included in Mortal Kombat 3 list but, I just want him playable again so badly! I just had to include him again.
4 – Cole (Mortal Kombat Movie)

Appearing in the latest live-action Mortal Kombat film. Cole’s main purpose was to be a vehicle for the audience to be introduced into the lore of the world. Cole had a boring ability compared to other characters. As his ability was some sort of kinetic energy storing battle armor. Despite being lackluster for a movie this ability would lend itself to an extremely unique move set. One where you would have to be blocking a lot to store the energy to make your attacks more powerful. This counter attacking technique would add to the already diverse roster.

3 – Sareena

Starting out as a non-playable boss character in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Sareena had her first playable appearance in Tournament Edition. She had a couple of cameos in the story modes of the last trilogy. Even being included in an arcade ending for Kabal in Mortal Kombat 11, in which the two started a family. However, many would argue none have shown her the love like Mortal Kombat 1 seems to be. With her being included as Kameo character and being included in the story, it’s strange to think why NRS haven’t just included her as a playable character. I for one hope they see where they went wrong and finally make her playable again. After all they made Ashra a badass, I can’t see why they can’t do that for Sareena.
2 – Sheeva

The queen of the Shokans, Sheeva had a better run than most in the reboot trilogy, Mortal Kombat 9, X, & 11. With her being elevated in both respect and position amongst the other characters. She was even promoted to the Shokan leader in 11. So, to see her mentioned but not even included in the game was very disappointing. Shokans as a whole seemed very underrepresented in the new game. Hopefully, we will see that addressed in the story expansion- whenever that comes out. But for starters, including Sheeva in a dlc, would be a great start!

1 – Onaga

The original ruler of Outworld, Onaga ruled for centuries. Having Shao Khan as his number two would see to be his downfall. As Shao plotted against his master and poisoned him until Onaga was finally weak enough. Weak enough for him to defeat him in Kombat and become the new ruler of Outworld. One he spent little time in relishing and got straight to work conquering several realms. We did see Onaga in the 3D era of games, with him coming back in Deception. The story was one of the best of the series and one that fans have overwhelming positive reactions to. This proved to be one of his few inclusions, with him returning for Armageddon but not since. He has been heavily rumored in both Mortal Kombat 1 and the last trilogy of games. Yet we still await another appearance from the Dragon King.
