Starting off with a game that brought with it a massive milestone for the Lego franchise- voices. Before Lego Batman 2 all Lego characters only made numerous grunts, sighs, and other limited sound effects. This was the first game to include full dialogue and it made the series even better. Allowing for more comedic opportunities as well as an excellent opportunity for talented voice actors to shine.

4 – Lego Marvel: Superheroes 2

3 – Lego DC Super Villains

I actually had the luxury to play Lego DC Super Villains early at Eurogamer, and got a lanyard that I proceeded to keep my college ID in. From that first experience… Creating my character then breaking out of Arkham Asylum had me hooked from the start. I was soon frustrated when I completed the level and realized I had to wait for the game to come out before I played anymore. Luckily, I got the game soon after it released and loved it! It was the perfect game for my Nintendo Switch. Jumping in and out of the Lego DC universe to unlock another character, collect a collectable or two, or just got around gliding as Batman.

The game kept me entertained for hours and contained unique mechanics which wasn’t really seen in previous games. Allowing players to have their creatable character as the main protagonist was genuinely fun and interesting. It made me feel that much more invested in the story.

2 – Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

A reimagining of the entire Star Wars Skywalker Saga, Lego Star Wars TSS was a brave step in a bold new direction for the game series. With it containing more features prominent in open world games, with even added exploration to your favourite Star Wars locations. Of course, with it spanning 9 whole movies there are some changes to the stories that were told in previous Lego Star Wars movies. With the overall retellings of each movie being much briefer and efficient in telling the plots of the movies. Adding a skill tree was ingenious and allows more account progression other than just collecting and unlocking red bricks!

Back where it all started, Lego Star Wars released in 2005. It went on to be so successful that a sequel, covering the original trilogy was put into production. Soon after that they went ahead with adapting a whole variety of popular IP’s. Including Harry Potter, Batman, Marvel, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Incredibles, and more! I remember playing it on my PS2 and various PCs. It was my favourite game for a long time. My first PS2 didn’t even save properly so I had to restart my progress in the game all over again every day. I loved it that much however I didn’t even care. After watching me do this for 4 months my dad gave me his PS2, which did save properly!
