PlayStation has recently become to dominate the console exclusive game niche, with their exclusives vastly outranking the quality of Xbox’s. Although with Xbox continuing to buyout developers and bring their games out onto their game pass service, one could argue that Xbox has had enough time as number 2 and is coming for that top spot. But if we were to take a look at the vast list of PlayStation exclusives, which would be ranked the best? With that question in mind, here are Best PlayStation Exclusives Ranked…
Best PlayStation Exclusives Top 5
5 – The Last of Us (Series)
Recently adapted into an impressively faithful TV adaptation, The Last of Us is just one of Naughty Dog’s PlayStation exclusives, with them also being the developers of the acclaimed Uncharted game series. Following a man named Joel as he takes a caretaker role of a young girl in a dystopian future. The Last of Us has one of the most heartbreaking and still at times heartwarming stories of all time. Breaking the cliché overused zombie/undead stereotypes Naughty Dog used their ingenuity and creativity to create their own type of outbreak. One that was based on a real life parasite. This created genuinely enthralling and unique monsters which evoked fear in the player.
The is a reason Sony keep on remastering and rereleasing the game, its clear Sony see The Last of Us as their answer to Bethesda’s critically acclaimed gem- Skyrim, which itself has been rereleased multiple times on several consoles. Perhaps that’s what Sony is aiming for. Hoping The Last of Us could be the game to rival Skyrim as the best game of all time. Or at the very least the most replayed game of all time.
4 – Ratchet & Clank (Series)
Sony’s own platformer series, Ratchet & Clank is also made by Marvel’s Spider-Man developers Insomniac Games. Building from their other popular series- Spyro. The developers doubled down on the comedy and the platforming to bring a whole new original IP to life, one they would continue to develop for over 20 years. Swapping the adorable purple dragon for an orange Lombrax and a robot. Ratchet & Clank first debuted on the PS2 back in 2003 and has since gone on to span over 16 games. It even has an animated movie adaptation of the recent reboot Ratchet & Clank (2016). With the last instalment, Rift Apart, being released on PC in 2023 the series shows no signs of slowing down.

3 – Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best games I have ever played. The world and story is rich with memorable scenes and characters and pulls you in right from the start. Tsushima is beautifully depicted within the game and is a real treat to just soak in the spectacle of the land. Focusing on Jin and his fall from his Samurai code as he becomes the “Ghost”, attacking the invading Mongols. Jin manages to successfully fight back the Mongols but due to his fall in honour is sentenced to death, a fate he avoids. In one of the most heartbreaking scenes of all video game history, Jin has to turn his back on the life he once lived. As he fully embraces his life as the Ghost of Tsushima.
2 – Marvel’s Spider-Man (Series)
Insomniac used their underperforming, but stellar, Xbox exclusive Sunset Overdrive’s movement and traversal systems for their next project. That project was revealed to be Marvel’s Spider-Man a PS4 exclusive. The game was a blockbuster success and became one of the highest selling games of that year, and of the PS4. It was so successful that a spinoff Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales was quickly put into development and was released soon after. Allowing fans to explore the world of New York

1 – God Of War (Series)
Set the worlds of Greek and Norse mythology, God of War has been a flagship series for Sony across several platforms since the series’ debut on the PS2. The series has increased in popularity throughout its run and was at time of God of War: Ragnarök’s release at it’s peak. Having seen its primary character, Kratos, defeat almost the entirety of the Greek Pantheon and then traverse into the world of Norse Mythology. In which he went on to defeat the Norse Pantheon in a mission to save his son. Which mythology do you wish to see God of War conquer next? I personally hope for Japanese or Egyptian.
