Comic Book Storylines That Need Video Game Adaptions

DC and Marvel has brought us so many iconic storylines and cross over events over the years. For example, Marvel Zombies, Batman Year One, Killing Joke, and so many more. So many of these would make great video games. A Gotham by Gaslight Batman game was in development at one point, but nothing came to fruition unfortunately. With that being said here are our picks for comic book storylines that need video game adaptions….

Storyline 4 – Civil War 2

Civil War or Civil War 2 would make terrific games. The only reason I have picked Civil War 2 is because the first story has had multiple adaptions already. With Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 adapting it in a gaming medium, and Captain America: Civil War adapted it for a movie. So Civil War 2 would have the benefit of being fresh to more people. Broadening the story’s audience as a whole whilst doing so. The core conflict between Iron Man and Captain Marvel is enticing and would make a good early choice that would dictate how the rest of your game is played. Are you team Iron Man or team Captain Marvel?

The story also involves the Inhumans quite heavily, which would give them a chance to save some face. Possibly even help to fix the issues caused by the Inhumans tv show. Or at least get the audience to give them a second chance.

Storyline 3 – Secret Invasion

Recently adapted into an underwhelming miniseries, Secret Invasion is one of Marvel’s most popular storylines. Having it adapted to a game would give it justice after its MCU butchering. The game could take some of the Batman Arkham detective mechanics and blend them with the LA Noire interrogation mechanics to make a truly unique experience. Utilizing both as you play as Nick Fury, or other heroes as you try to uncover who among you is a Skrull.

Storyline 2 – DC vs Vampires

One of the better comics I’ve read in recent years, DC vs Vampires is exactly what the label says. It’s the DC Universe fighting against a vampire uprising. Delivering several shocking moments that will scar you for weeks to come, the series would be brilliant as an action/survival game. Or even as a roguelike where you start with so many randomly selected heroes and try to fight back the vampires. There is so many different genres they could explore with this story. Although my vote is for a roguelike.

Storyline 1 – Avengers vs X-Men

Marvel unfortunately haven’t done so well with fighting games recently. Which is a real shame as they were the kings of superhero fighting games. Games like Marvel vs Capcom, and the X-Men fighting games conquered the genre before DC’s Injustice took the crown. Avengers vs X-Men gives a perfect reason to do a fighting game, the story lends itself perfectly to the genre. The roster, like the Marvel vs Capcom games, could have a split roster. One side representing each superhero team. I know I for one would love this to happen! Who would you want to see representing each team? Let us know in the comments below.
