Gameplay

The gameplay follows the traditional EDF format, with players, either on their own or with up to three other friends, take on waves of giant insect like monsters. With some missions even featuring Kaiju cameos such as Godzilla and more! With the key change of being able to switch between characters on your team. Allowing for more strategic gameplay as you switch to the class more suited for the challenge you’re facing. Players are allowed to select any four characters to make their teams.

Characters

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers includes an extensive character roster. One that you will spend hours upon hours collecting. The game is very rewarding in that nature however as each mission will provide the player with three new recruits. As long as they find them on the mission map. Characters featured are ones from previous games as well as new creations. Providing an experience where there truly is a character for everyone’s playstyle. As they all have different abilities, attacks, weapon proficiencies, and stats.

Voxel Art Style

The voxel art style takes after the global phenomenon- Minecraft. It actually doesn’t look to bad in a EDF setting. The worlds are detailed. Monsters look incredible in the pixel like style as so do the mass variety of characters you can collect.

Summary

To conclude Earth Defense Force: World Brothers provides fun gameplay in bitesize chunks. Allowing the perfect on the go gaming experience. It’s easy to see why they released the game onto Switch as the short missions times provide quick entertainment whenever you get a little bit of free time. But the mass number of missions (60 to be exact) means you will never find yourself getting bored. The game is incredibly fun and provides more than one Kaiju cameo, which for me made the game worth playing on its own! If you like shooters, monster games, or collectathons you will love this spin-off!
