About Playhouse Theatre
The Playhouse Theatre is one of the oldest theatres in the city of Liverpool. So, it would first come to life in 1866 (the same year as the Empire, interestingly) as a music hall. But Liverpudlians would have to wait until 1911 for it to become what we know and love today. Nowadays, it’s notable for its large circular glass front and the red lights indicating the venue’s name on the outside. Furthermore, the Playhouse is a backdrop for some of the most memorable productions to grace Liverpool. Also, since 1999, both the Playhouse and Everyman combine for management under a joint trust. And that close-knit working relationship continues to this day.

Which bar or pub you go to before a Playhouse show depends on your preferences. So, within the area are The Hatch Bar, Lanigans Irish Bar, O’Neills and The Ship & Mitre. Also, The Fall Well allows you to enjoy alcoholic beverages before or after a show. So, there’s plenty of choice in this regard, especially if you walk further out into the city centre.
Hotels
Just over the road from the Theatre is the Marriott Hotel. Now, this is ideal for anyone who travels down to Liverpool to see a live show. Furthermore, the Holiday Inn and the Adelphi are just around the corner. And if you head towards Dale Street and Sir Thomas Street (around 5-10 minutes away), many other hotels are there. So, these include Hotel Ibis Styles and the DoubleTree By Hilton.
Other Local Services
Again, the Theatre sits within a small space between the larger St. John’s Precinct. So, this allows you to check out the latest items in the stores beforehand. But Williamson Square also has shops worth browsing, such as one branch of Liverpool Football Club’s retail venues. Additionally, Liverpool One shopping district is less than a ten-minute walk away.
