This is our review of 101 Dalmatians at Liverpool‘s Empire Theatre!

Synopsis Of 101 Dalmatians

This smash-hit musical comes to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre with dalmatians aplenty! Leading the cats is the multitalented Kym Marsh in the role of the truly wicked Cruella de Vil. Douglas Hodge is the writer, with him covering both the music and lyrics. The plot focuses on that of the Johnny McKnight book and focuses on Zinnie Harris’ stage adaptation.

So, we meet Pongo and Perdi, who lead their family of dalmatians accompanied by owners Roger and Anita. All seems well, especially with the joy of giving birth to 15 baby dalmatians! But Cruella and her merry men want to buy the puppies so she can create a new fur coat. And when the owners reject Cruella, she stoops to new lows to try and get what she wants. Will Cruella succeed, or will the dalmatians find their way back home?

Analysis Of 101 Dalmatians

This is a really fun show that manages to excite audience members of all ages. Kym Marsh is great as Cruella de Vil; she’s menacing, but not so much to truly frighten the younger kids. And of course, she gets to demonstrate why she was the standout singer from Hearsay with her performances. The acting on the whole is quite good, and there’s a surprising emotional charm from the talking dogs.

Talking dogs? Oh, yes. The dalmatians are here in the form of lifesize puppets. And this adds a sweetness to the show because the dalmatians truly become central characters. As a result, we revel in their joy and ache with their pain amidst Cruella’s diabolical plot. Not to mention the other dogs, one of whom repeatedly reminds us that he’s hungry. But if you’re here to see an actual dog, make sure to stick around to the very end.

Summary Of 101 Dalmatians

I would definitely recommend this show for anyone, especially those with young children. It’s a very entertaining show that is easy to follow and with some memorable visual effects and humorous dialogue. It helps if you remember the original movie. But even if you don’t, you should have a tremendous evening watching this production.
