Analysis Of Goldilocks And The Three Bears
Regal Entertainments presents another classic pantomime with a twist. Hosting an array of circus acts and jaw-dropping skills, this show is a feast for the eyes. The senior dancers in the production also showcase their skills with fire eating, aerial skills, and acrobatics. These scenes are highly entertaining, keeping the audience engaged. Throughout the show, the audience is treated to musical numbers with classic pop songs and recent TikTok hits. There is something in this show for both children and adults alike.
Baron Von Vippenall
The star of the show is undoubtedly Timothy Lucas, who plays evil circus owner Baron Von Vippenall. Lucas keeps the audience engaged for the entirety of his time on stage. And he has people in fits of laughter throughout. In his first moment, Lucas asks the audience to ‘give him the clap’ while gesturing for a round of applause. In this first instance, we are anticipating a wonderful show that Lucas succeeds in providing.
We’re also treated to wonderful songs that showcase Lucas’ range and singing skills. Between fighting with the lighting team, falling around on stage, and laughing at the expense of the audience and cast members alike, Lucas undoubtedly steals the show. In fact, his performance was so well appreciated on press night, that many audience members chose to applaud him greatly during the bows rather than the typical boos that usually grace the villain’s presence.
Other Cast Members
Mama G who plays Dame Gertie is wonderful during her time on stage. She even makes an effort to laugh at her own expense. This is when the children that are invited on stage don’t respond as expected to her questions. During the production, there are some moments that don’t receive the expected response from the audience. Some calls from the cast aren’t met with a response from the audience, which makes an awkward atmosphere.
In one particular moment in Act 2, Mama G makes a side comment to an audience member when Silly Billy’s jokes aren’t landing, played by Brandon McCaffrey. This captures the pure essence of what pantomime is all about: laughing at your own expense and working with what you’re presented with. Even when the sound effects and staging aren’t changed at the planned times, the performers on stage make the best of it and receive support from the audience in the form of laughter and applause.
