Analysis Of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

This was, as expected, a high-calibre West End musical. It was colourful, energetic, enthusiastic and polished. Linzi Hateley delivered an amazing performance as the narrator. Indeed, her comical delivery combined with a beautiful and powerful singing voice. This made her, in my humble opinion, the star of the show. Watch out for the Liverpool accent in one particular scene; it brought the house down. Meanwhile, Jason Donovan received a very warm reception when he came on stage as Pharaoh. He delivered a performance that Elvis “The King” Presley would have been proud of. Again, it was a polished, energetic and even sexy act; he’s a true professional and he really can dance.

Jac Yarrow as Joseph can act, dance and sing to a very high standard. His coat was beautifully made and suitably different from the last production of the show I saw. Elsewhere, the scenery and costumes were very colourful, inventive and well thought out. At one point, the huge golden statues on stage joined in with the rock and roll theme. Can you spot the larger than life guitars?

Other Notes

There was a very good live orchestra, perhaps a little too loud initially. Furthermore, there was an international cast with eight very talented children aged between 8-13. Two animated camels were very cleverly constructed and attached to bicycles. Plus, there were sheep and even a goat on stage! Furthermore, the dancing was superb; the 11 brothers and wives did not put a foot wrong. There was also a Can-Can done by the wives. Then, we were treated to American-style cheerleading. It was a thoroughly energetic, well-choreographed number. Finally, the children were delightful with very good singing voices. All involved got a well-deserved standing ovation by a very enthusiastic Liverpool audience.

Summary Of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

If you love a lively and funny musical, I thoroughly recommend you go and see Joseph. It’s simply an amazing production for anyone from ages 7 to 70!
