This is our review of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto Cinderella at Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre!

Synopsis Of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto Cinderella

The legendary Everyman Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto returns! And for 2023, the story is Cinderella. There’s lots of sass, sparkles, and silliness. And this awesomely-talented group of actors brings the show to life in an amazing fashion. The show is bursting at the seams with classic pop and rock songs. So, this show will have the audience singing and dancing along no matter their age group.

So, our hero Cinderella is suffering the wrath of her negligent father and her evil sisters. Meanwhile, the Queen is pressuring the Prince to find love or risk going down to the mines. Fortunately, the Dame Fairy Godmother and her trusty sidekick Graham are there to help turn frowns upside down using their magic. But will Cinders and the Prince get along? And will Cinders get to the ball?

Analysis Of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto Cinderella

This is a rollercoaster ride from the beginning to the end. All involved are terrific, with Adam Keast’s comedic timing providing plenty of highlights from an entertainment standpoint. In terms of performances, though, Grace Venus is sensational as Cinderella/Ellanora; her acting, singing, and subtle one-liners are all spot-on. Nevertheless, as noted, everybody does a great job, and the script has tons of humorous quips and double entendres.

Not forgetting, of course, the music. This is the Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto, after all. And all sorts of generational talents get a reference here. I won’t spoil the best hits because the element of surprise adds to their impact. But needless to say there are many moments where you can sing and dance along. Oh, and if you sit near the front, you may just catch the eye of the cast. Brian will know what I’m talking about if he’s reading this review.
