Knuckles follows the titular character come to terms with life on Earth. After being grounded because he brutally attacked some contractors coming to do some work on the house, Knuckles searches for his purpose. After a visit from an Echidna ancestor, he is told to recruit another warrior to ensure he does not remain the last of their tribe. The proposed warrior- Wade Whipple. Yes, the goofy cop from the movies.

The two form a bond as Knuckles teaches Wade the ways of the warrior and what it truly means to be powerful. All the while traveling to compete against Max’s dad in a bowling tournament. Whilst avoiding extremely well equipped G.U.N agents that are after a bounty on Knuckles. Placed by none other than Robotnik’s own protégé.

Analysis of Knuckles

Cast

Is the New 'Sonic' Spin-Off 'Knuckles' OK for Kids?

The cast performed brilliantly. Although some dialogue or acting in scenes can lean on the cringy side everyone gives an amazing performance. Obviously the two starring characters lead by a mile, but Wade’s mum was an utterly surprising delight to watch, and actually had the best action scene of the movie. Telling Knuckles to protect the candles at all costs was utter bad-ass!

CGI

CGI for the most part is extremely well edited. The highlight of course being Knuckles’ animation, he seamed to soar around the screen like an eagle. He rarely looked odd or poorly animated. The production team clearly new where to focus their time and budget. Combat was rewarding to watch you truly do get gripped into the action. Especially the fight scenes at Wade’s family’s home. With the mum and sister getting in on the action as they protect their home.

Summary

Knuckles is getting a TV series, and yes, Idris Elba is Knuckles again | PC Gamer

Filled with laughs, explosive action scenes, amazing songs, and heartwarming character moments, Knuckles hits the ground running fast! The series uses its expanded duration to fill in Knuckles’ back story as well as some character development, showing him come more attuned to the ways of Earth. Even showing some impressive character growth as he starts to think more about the people he cares about. It will be interesting to see if Knuckles stays with Wade from now on instead of going back to stay with Sonic and Tails. The series did seem like Knuckles was branching out to become his own thing with his own background/side characters, but it may all very well depend on just how well the series is received.

For any lover of Sonic, I can’t recommend watching Knuckles enough!

Overall Rating: 8.5 – Excellent!

Recommendation: YES!
