Introduction To The Best Cleveland Show Episodes

His name is Cleveland Brown and he was proud to have his own show before it got cancelled. So what better way is there to get into the Christmas spirit than revisiting one of Seth MacFarlane’s many, many animated shows: The Cleveland Show? While it may be the weakest of his animated shows, The Cleveland Show still had its high points. So before I get into the list properly here is some history about this TV show.

History Of The Cleveland Show

The Cleveland Show first aired on Fox in 2009. And it ran for four seasons with an average of twenty episodes. So, as the title suggests the show follows Cleveland Brown as he moves from Quahog, Rhode Island to Stoolbend, Virginia to become his own Family Guy. Cheesy segue aside, the show sees Cleveland move in with his childhood sweetheart, Donna, and her unruly kids as he looks to become a good father figure to them, unlike a certain other Family Guy …

Despite being pretty good, the Cleveland Show eventually got canned and brought into the Family Guy sphere when Cleveland returned to his friends in Quahog. But I guess he was proud to have lasted 4 seasons…. Another cheesy segue aside, let’s properly get into the list of the best episodes of the Cleveland Show now.

10. Y Tu Junior También (S3, E8)

Kicking off the list of the best Cleveland Show episodes is Y Tu Junior Tambien. Now, what makes this episode so good? Well besides the funny title this episode sees Cleveland become jealous and suspicious of Juniors’ new girlfriend. Now naturally when things start getting too serious between them, Cleveland decides to do what any good parent would do. He decides to break them up because he suspects she is after a green card….. What an episode of the Cleveland Show to kick the list off……

9. To Live And Die In VA (S2, E17)

Once again what a great episode title from the Cleveland Show and secondly this is another great episode. So, what makes it so good, I hear you ask? Well, firstly there’s the “will he, won’t he” of Lester taking his own life after investing in Cleveland’s beer business. I know, what a jolly episode so far…. Anyway, the B-plot is far lighter with Rallo deciding he’s sick of his mum cutting his hair. So, naturally, he decides to open up his own barbershop in his kitchen. Yep, really another solid episode…

8. B.M.O.C (S3, E18)

I mean I could keep pointing out funny Cleveland Show episode titles but that’d get old real quick. So what makes B.M.O.C so good? Well, firstly Cleveland is trying to help Roberta find a college. Sounds lovely enough right? Well, that is until his old fraternity starts giving him the cold shoulder. I mean at least it isn’t a Cleveland Steamer…. Anyway, the B plot sees Rallo try to help Cleveland Jr sleep without Larry, his stuffed tiger, although I don’t see anything wrong with that.

7. California Dreamin’ (All The Cleves Are Brown) (S4, E15)

Now I’m sure we’ve all had that dream of making it big in our favourite sport. Well, that’s precisely what happens to Cleveland in this episode when he decides to become an MLB (Major League Baseball) scout. However, there is a downside to this as his family starts growing a little too accustomed to the LA lifestyle. I’m sure no conflict will be born out of that plot point….

6. A Rodent Like This (S4, E13)

Also on the topic of somewhat relatable plot points, this episode sees Donna find a rat in the house. Naturally freaked out she decides to take the kids and stay with her mother. So she’d uproot the kids before putting some rat poison or traps down to trap or kill it. Makes sense to me…. Now maybe that reaction is understandable given the fact Cleveland has developed a friendship with the rat. Anyway, the B plot continues Rallo and Cleveland Jr’s friendship as both of them play spies when they become bored.

5. Back To Cool (S2, E20)

At the halfway point of this list, we have Back to Cool. Now, what makes this episode so good? Well basically it’s the plot of Daddy’s Home before Daddy’s Home was even a thing… I say this because Donna’s ex-husband turns up and his kids start to find him cooler than him. So naturally, he challenges him to a ‘Coolympics’ to win back his son’s love. What a lovely rational solution from Cleveland here…..

4. Escape From Goochland (S4, E1)

Narrowly missing out on the top three best Cleveland Show episodes is Escape from Goochland. So what makes this episode so good? Well, Cleveland decides to turn up to his old rival high school to try and win an annual Halloween football game. Oh, and the B plot is just as mad with Donna ending up getting in trouble with the police. What did she do? Well apparently her Halloween costume was too sexy to wear… Glad to see some lovely standards here….

3. Frapp Attack! (S3, E16)

Kicking off the top three best episodes of the Cleveland Show is Frapp Attack! Now, what makes this episode so great? Well, firstly it starts with Donna getting jealous of Cleveland becoming close with an attractive female co-worker. And what happens next is Cleveland ends up making it big with a music video… So in a lovely twist of fate Cleveland then starts getting jealous of Donna becoming rather close with his music producer. So really it’s a lovely cyclical narrative from the Cleveland Show here…

2. All You Can Eat (S3, E22)

Coming in second place in the best Cleveland Show episodes is All You Can Eat. So what makes this episode great? Well, the Season 3 finale sees Roberta giving Jr a makeover to approach a girl he really fancies. However, she ends up being mistaken for a female, but that doesn’t end up being the end of their relationship. Oh, and the B-plot is just as mad as Cleveland gets into a snack food fight, because why not…..
