Introduction

Ironically, I’m going All In for this list… And yes that was a terrible segue to reference AEW’s upcoming Wembley supershow: All In. So what better way to celebrate this massive show than to look back at the very best of AEW’s biggest show: All Out? And yes I’m aware there has been an All In before but honestly there weren’t that many great matches. Check out more wrestling lists here. So without further ado, here are the best AEW All Out Matches ranked.

Best AEW All Out Matches

10. Dr Britt Baker D.M.D vs Kris Statlander – AEW Women’s World Championship – (AEW All Out 2021)

While AEW has repeatedly failed to spotlight its women’s division over its 4 year existence, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been very good women’s matches. Case in point: Britt Baker vs Kris Statlander at All Out 2021. Not only was there a clear story going in, with Statlander pursuing the title after another injury had derailed her, but the two women had sublime chemistry. Just look to the slick counters and great audience investment because of Baker’s excellent heel work. A great match in isolation and a monument to what AEW’s women’s division could be.

9. The Young Bucks vs Lucha Bros – Escalera De La Muerte Match for the AAA World Tag Team Championships (AEW All Out 2019)

In a complete 180 from the relatively calm and steady Baker and Statlander, this ladder match between the Lucha Bros and Young Bucks is a daft, overstuffed and violent cirque du soleil tribute. And I mean that in the best way. Examples of this include Penta doing Canadian Destroyers off ladders through tables, a stereo splash off ladders through opponents on more ladders and a lot of superkicks. Yes it’s very spot heavy without much story but when you’ve got two teams as good as the Bucks and Lucha Bros all you need is to give them 20 mins and watch the daft magic unfold.

8. Jon Moxley vs CM Punk  – AEW World Championship (AEW All Out 2022)

What’s this? A slightly positive CM Punk opinion on the internet? Twitter’s going to have a meltdown. Once again, whatever you make of Punk after the brawl, there is no denying how good his match with Jon Moxley was. A proper, bloody war with both men bleeding throughout as well as a great throughline of Punk regaining his confidence in his own abilities after the unification match. That moment when Punk finally puts down Moxley with a GTS only to be confronted by the returning MJF is brilliant storytelling and it’s a damn shame we never got that match at Full Gear 2022. Again. If you ignore the elephant sized brawl in the room this is a terrific match.

7. Chris Jericho vs. Hangman Page – AEW World Championship (AEW All Out 2019)

Ahhh yes, a time where Chris Jericho wasn’t universally disliked for his 8 month long feuds and cooling off of top guys. While it was going to be a gamble putting the AEW Title immediately on Jericho, this match showed that faith wasn’t going to be misplaced. Even in spite of the obvious result the match was still an emotional rollercoaster. Just look at the finish where it looks like Page is to finish off Jericho before he finally succumbs to a Judas Effect. Heart breaking yet crucial for Page’s eventual rise. That is why the storytelling and drama in this match were top-notch, making it one of the best in AEW’s history.

6. Casino Ladder Match (AEW All Out 2022)

For some reason, AEW seems to be able to churn out great ladder matches with disturbing ease. Case in point, the Casino Ladder Match at All Out 2022. For starters the lineup included Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, The Lucha Bros, Dante Martin, Andrade and RUSH. So already you’ve got a nuts line up. Just look at Penta dishing out a Canadian destroyer on Dante mid entrance. Or the brutal sunset flip powerbomb from Andrade to Yuta off a ladder onto a ladder. While I could just list spots, the real drama comes at the end when a disguised MJF wins the match with the help of the Job Squad- sorry the Firm. Slightly deflating ending aside, this is a madly entertaining match.

5. The Elite vs Hangman Adam Page and Dark Order – AEW World Trios Championships (AEW All Out 2022)

Yes, like the Punk vs Moxley main event this match will forever be tarnished by the post show brawl but look past that and this is a terrific match for the Trios championships. Not only is it a technically sublime match but it’s got the continued throughline of Page having to fight the Elite. Just look at the moment where Omega and Page drag their respective partners to their corners to tag in and face off for the first time since Full Gear 2021. Magical really… There’s also yet more heartbreak for Page and Dark Order in the finish as Page wipes out his partner with a Buckshot Lariat only to fail to break up the pin. Yet more fantastically emotional wrestling from the Elite…

4. PAC vs Kenny Omega (AEW All Out 2019)

In terms of forgotten great AEW feuds, PAC vs Kenny Omega is definitely up there. Despite the match not being initially planned, a sudden elbow injury to Jon Moxley led to PAC vs Kenny Omega. And yes it’s violently good considering the two competitors. Not only are there plenty of daft high spots but there’s also a lot of PAC being a horrible person to face. Just look at the finish, where checks notes, PAC beats Omega with the Brutalizer by referee stoppage. A fantastic match which got over PAC by beating Omega without having to make Omega submit or be pinned. Well worth a rewatch….

3. CM Punk vs Darby Allin (AEW All Out 2021)

Ok I swear I won’t make anymore CM Punk Brawl jokes…. With that out of the way, how was CM Punk that good after 7 years away from the ring. Not only was the crowd molten hot for Punk, but he and Darby Allin had a terrific match. Firstly, the spot of Punk just sitting up to avoid a coffin drop was far funnier than it should have been. Also, the throughline of Punk trying to work with his ring rust really helped Allin to shine as he looked every bit Punk’s equal. And yes the moment when Punk kicks out of the Last Supper before finally putting Allin down is just beautiful. As was AEW teasing a possible match between Sting and Punk only for it to just be a respectful handshake spot. Damn, what would that match look like…

2. Swerve in Our Glory vs The Acclaimed (AEW All Out 2022)

If it wasn’t for *that* match, this could quite easily have been number one. While the Acclaimed, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland are all fantastic wrestlers, what really elevates this match is the sheer love Chicago gives to the Acclaimed. This turns what would normally be a good match into a fantastic match. Just look at the spot where Max Caster powers up Keith Lee for a Death Valley Driver. Or the Swerve Stomp and Spirit Bomb combo nearfall. Or the running joke of Swerve being spooked by Billy Gunn. Genuinely, it takes a lot to get a wrestling crowd to boo Keith Lee so props to the Acclaimed for managing that and a phenomenal match.

1: The Young Bucks vs. Lucha Bros – Steel Cage Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship (AEW All Out 2021)

Is this the obvious choice for the best AEW All Out Match? Yes. But sometimes the obvious choice is the right choice. What sets it apart from their ladder match? Well not much other than the sheer joy when the Lucha Bros dethroned the Bucks. Now, what sort of highspots were present here? Well, superkicks with thumbtacks attached to the shoes and a stupid, stupid dive from Rey Fenix off the top of the cage onto both Bucks and his brother. That’s not even mentioning the Bucks really going full heel by ripping Penta’s mask. Honestly, I don’t know if anything can top this ludicrously fun and violent match.
